Salvador Dali

1904-89 Spanish painter. Dali went to Paris in 1929 and joined the Surrealist movement. He was influenced by Freud's psychoanalytic theories of the unconscious. He painted disturbing images with a quasi-photographic finish which heightened their disquieting effect.
